Two major Carolina Panthers starters are set to begin training camp on the shelf.
As announced on Tuesday afternoon, cornerback Jaycee Horn and right tackle Taylor Moton have been placed on the reserve/non-football injury list.
According to Darin Gantt of Panthers.com, Horn sustained a cut on his foot that required stitches. He is expected to rejoin the team during the early portions of camp.
Moton, meanwhile, was diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung in late June. His treatment, per Gantt, will likely cause him to miss time into the regular season.
Carolina will also probably be without starting left tackle Ikem Ekwonu come Week 1. Ekwonu is still recovering from a torn patellar tendon he sustained in the wild-card round loss in January.
If both Moton and Ekwonu remain sidelined, the Panthers could turn to their offseason additions in veteran left tackle Rasheed Walker and first-round pick Monroe Freeling. Freeling recorded 257 snaps at right tackle during his three year-run at the University of Georgia.
