The first major piece of silverware of the new German season will be decided in Dortmund.
The DFL has officially confirmed that the 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will take place at Signal Iduna Park on August 22nd.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 PM EDT (20:30 CEST), setting up another huge Klassiker between two of German football’s biggest clubs.
Borussia Dortmund will have home advantage and the support of a packed Signal Iduna Park behind them, while Bayern Munich will be looking to begin the new campaign by lifting a trophy on their biggest domestic rival’s home turf.
The Franz Beckenbauer Supercup will also provide an early indication of where both teams stand heading into the 2026/27 season. With new campaigns bringing fresh expectations, summer transfers, tactical changes, and the opportunity to start with silverware, neither side will want to give the other an early advantage.
For Bayern Munich, it will be an opportunity to immediately demonstrate their ambitions. For Borussia Dortmund, it will be a chance to claim a trophy in front of their home supporters and make a statement against the reigning German champions.
What a way to begin the new German football season.
