NFL legend Jerry Rice was seen chasing down a heckler who interrupted him at a golf tournament as he was in the middle of a golf swing.
Last week, Rice competed at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. In a video posted on social media, a spectator off-screen could be heard shouting, “Fore,” a split-second after Rice drove the ball off the tee. The shout was intended to mock rice, as the term is most commonly used to warn people on the course that an errant shot was headed toward them.
Rice immediately looked behind him to find the person responsible. He then began walking toward the crowd yelling, “Yo! Hey!” As he got closer to the crowd, fans egged him on by saying “Go get him, Jerry!” Moments later, the 63-year-old started running in an effort to catch the heckler.
“Which one?” Rice asked as he ran into the distance. At least one spectator identified the heckler by his clothing.
After appearing to exchange words with the heckler. Rice began his walk back to the tee box. He was greeted with a sort of hero’s welcome, as the crowd cheered him on. Rice smiled and waved.
“Don’t poke the bear!” a fan said.
As noted in a report from TMZ, Rice went on to finish 42nd in the 90-player field at the celebrity golf tournament.
