Another former LSU baseball pitcher came off the board at the 2026 MLB Draft. Santiago Garcia will join the Toronto Blue Jays after they selected the southpaw with pick No. 372 in the 12th round.
Garcia came to LSU as a rising junior after playing a season apiece at Central Arizona Community College and Oregon. The lefty saw consistent relief outings across the 2026 season in Baton Rouge and made the most of his final year of college baseball.
In 2026, Garcia gave the Tigers 21 relief outings and finished with two saves. He recorded a 5.96 ERA and picked up 35 strikeouts through 22.2 innings. Head coach Jay Johnson relied on him for multiple outings in a single weekend series a few times, calling on him in high-leverage situations.
