New York Knicks star guard Jalen Brunson is coming off a championship run. On Saturday, he will return to Madison Square Garden, but this time to attend WWE’s “Saturday Night’s Main Event” show.
The Knicks guard was invited by former WWE Champion Roman Reigns on social media.

Brunson accepted the invitation with a response that seemed to acknowledge the Tribal Chief.

This will not be the first time that Brunson has been involved with the WWE. He is an avid fan and was even adjacently involved in a storyline back in 2024.
Logan Paul was feuding with LA Knight, and Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton – also a huge WWE fan – had aligned himself with the heel Paul.
At a televised event at Madison Square Garden on June 28, 2024, Brunson began in the crowd watching the show. During a match between Paul and LA Knight, Paul signaled to Haliburton for brass knuckles.
When it looked like Haliburton was going to comply, Brunson hopped the barricade, confronting Haliburton.
LA Knight ended up winning the match, but afterward, Haliburton got into the ring with his brass knuckles alongside Paul. Brunson grabbed a steel chair and slid into the ring to even the sides with LA Knight.
No confrontation happened, but it was enough for fans to wish that one day Brunson and Haliburton might find themselves wrestling each other in a WWE ring.
The New York guard is a big fan of Roman Reigns. He was asked on April 30 of this year about what he thought of Reigns winning at this year’s WrestleMania over CM Punk. He admitted that he was “very excited” and “I have a handshake with one of our trainers and we acknowledge him [Reigns] before every game.

Knicks fans have also been tuning in more to WWE because one of the wrestlers, Danhausen, cursed the team during their series with the Atlanta Hawks. A fan paid Danhausen “human money” to make a Cameo uncursing the team, and the Knicks responded by winning 13 straight playoff games.
New York didn’t lose until Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. The Knicks bounced back with consecutive wins to earn their first championship since 1973.
Brunson’s decision to attend the show is ambiguous enough that fans can speculate about what could go down.
“Saturday Night’s Main Event” tends to feature more fan service than you would find at a house show as opposed to a typical television episode. There is a chance that Brunson is just featured in the audience, but there is also a chance that he gets in the ring and gets cheered by his hometown crowd.
“Saturday Night’s Main Event” will air exclusively on Peacock at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 18.
