Northern’s Landon Yoder and Allegany’s Kohen Madden were voted Co-Western Maryland Athletic Conference Players of the Year, as part of the conference’s postseason honors revealed on Saturday by the league’s coaches.
Both were their respective teams’ ace and starting shortstop on squads that tied for the WestMAC title with matching 6-2 records.
Fort Hill finished third in the conference with a 4-4 record, and Mountain Ridge and Southern were tied for fourth at 2-6.
The Player of the Year and All-WestMAC team was chosen at a meeting of the conference’s head coaches on Monday.
The first-team pitchers are Fort Hill juniors Bobby Brauer and Colt Resh, and Allegany sophomore Liam Buck.
Southern senior Reece Tasker and Northern junior Elliott Myers-Shirer split the catching duties.
Occupying the infield are Northern senior Hunter Livengood and junior Jake Chambers, Allegany junior Cole Ricker, Mountain Ridge junior John Delaney and Fort Hill junior Carson Bender.
Patrolling the outfield are Allegany senior Sebastian Stewart and junior Daulton Harper and Fort Hill junior Coye Resh.
Mountain Ridge junior Dane Van Slyke is the first-team utility man, and Allegany sophomore Max Fradiska rounds out the first squad as the designated hitter.
The second-team pitchers are Northern junior Hunter Beitzel and Southern juniors Cade Leader and Hayden Williams. Fort Hill junior Jake Rice is the catcher.
Southern senior Ryan Bird and Allegany freshmen Dylan Irons and Eston Powell are the second-team infielders, and Southern senior JD Nesselrodt, Northern senior Blake Spiker and Mountain Ridge junior Daniel Swindle are the outfielders.
Mountain Ridge junior Carter Clites caps off the second team as the designated hitter.
