POTOMAC PARK — Frostburg exploded for 14 runs in the third inning en route to a 17-11 victory in four frames over Cumberland Rotary in Mountain League Baseball Junior Division action on Thursday at Holler Field.
Frostburg’s Jacob Shipe was 2 for 4 with a double and three runs, Landon Smith scored three times, Rowan Dunn and Scott Cowan had two ribbies each, and Cowan and Jaxon Emerick had multi-hit games.
Cowan was the winning pitcher, allowing six runs (two earned) on six hits in three innings.
Rotary’s Wade Cunningham led the way with a 3-for-4 performance adding a double, two ribbies and two runs. Blake Davis and Demarcus Isner had two RBIs apiece, and Kellen McKenzie singled twice and scored three times.
Davis was tabbed with the loss on the bump.
Frostburg (5-7) hosted Casselman Valley on Friday and faces Bedford at Hamilton Field on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Cumberland Rotary (6-8) battles Outdoor Power at Holler Field on Monday at 6 p.m.
Cresaptown 11 Bedford 6
POTOMAC PARK — Liam Harper drove in four runs, and the Cresaptown Eagles scored eight in the fifth in a victory over Bedford in a Junior Division game Thursday at Hamilton Field.
Harper was 2 for 4 with a double, Walker Smith tripled and singled, and Camdyn Harper and Cory Vizza had two base hits each.
Grayson Long was the winning pitcher, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits in 5 2/3 innings of middle relief. He struck out six and walked two.
Bedford’s Gavin Wagoner doubled, Rhys Altman had two hits, and Ayden Clark drove in two. Brantley Elliott was the losing arm.
Cresaptown (9-1) faced the Travel Mug Sluggers on Friday and welcomes Flintstone to Memorial Field on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Bedford (3-8) takes on Frostburg at Hamilton Field on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Hampshire 7 Amoroso’s 5
ROMNEY, W.Va. — Hampshire’s pitching struck out 14 batters in a win over Amoroso’s in a Junior Division contest on Thursday.
Jacob Hite fanned eight across three innings in a no-decision, and Bentley Mynhier struck out six in 2 1/3 frames. Baylor Simon was the winning pitcher recording the final two outs of the sixth.
Hampshire scored the go-ahead run in the sixth on a passed ball.
Simon tripled, Cayne Shingleton doubled twice, Eric Blomquist had two singles, and Hite doubled.
Amoroso’s Jacob Jones was 2 for 4 with three RBIs, and Bayne Stowell drove in two and scored two times. Stowell was dealt the loss in relief.
Hampshire (9-3) hosts Frostburg on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Amoroso’s (4-9) welcomes the Travel Mug Sluggers to Westernport on Monday at 6 p.m.
Senior Division Northern 7-13 Westernport 5-14
WESTERNPORT — Northern won the opener, and Westernport followed with its first victory of the season in Senior Division action on Thursday night.
Westernport scored seven runs in the final inning of the nightcap. Jaren Vasquez leveled the tally with a two-run triple, and he scored on a passed ball one batter later for the win.
Ryder Lewis also tripled for Westernport, Austen Philips and Brody McDougal doubled, and Braylon Cadwallader, Vasquez and Reid Robison had two runs batted in each.
Northern’s Paxton French doubled and drove in three runs, and Caden Frazee had three base knocks.
Northern won the first contest by plating three in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie.
Dallas Jones provided the go-ahead base hit with a run-scoring single. Frazee had three hits, and Jones and Jordan Lane had two ribbies each.
Caleb Yoder was the winning arm, allowing four runs (three earned) on 10 hits with six strikeouts to three walks in six innings.
Westernport’s Bradley Ziler struck out 12 batters but was dealt the loss.
McDougal, Lewis and Robison all doubled.
Northern (3-5-2) has a doubleheader at Flintstone on Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Westernport (1-12-1) heads to Garrett College to face Mountain Laurel Medical Center on Monday at 7 p.m.
