While the changes on the offensive side of the ball have been getting the most publicity, the Miami Dolphins also overhauled a good chunk of their defense since Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley took over.
With that, the cornerback position could still use some help, as Marco Wilson, Alex Austin and Darrell Baker Jr. are the veterans expected to replace Rasul Douglas, Jack Jones, Ifeatu Melifonwu, Kader Kohou and others who left in free agency.
There’s still time for the Dolphins to add at the position before training camp starts, and interestingly, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton recently identified Miami potential suitors for veteran cornerback Trevon Diggs.
Diggs, 27, was once considered one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, making two Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team early in his career with the Dallas Cowboys. The former second-round pick was phenomenal in his first three seasons, but injuries limited him to just 22 games over the last three years.
Dallas waived Diggs last December, and while the Green Bay Packers claimed the cornerback, he didn’t make much of an impact for them, playing in just one regular-season game and one defensive snap in the postseason.
At the moment, the Dolphins are expected to start the season with Chris Johnson, JuJu Brents and Jason Marshall Jr. as their starting cornerbacks. Diggs, if healthy, could probably take a starting job in South Florida in 2026.
