The attempted murder case against Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and four others has been postponed to 20 July for trial.
The accused appeared in the High Court in Johannesburg to get an update on whether one of the alleged gunmen, Musa Kekana, has fully paid his legal fees.
The court heard that Kekana has since settled his bill and ready for trial.
Matlala, his wife Tsakani Matlala and three others are facing charges relating to the assassination attempts of Matlala’s former partner Tebogo Thobejane, businessman Joe Sibanyoni and music producer Seunkie Mokubung.
Judge William Karam says the trial will go ahead uninterrupted until its conclusion.
“Legal representative has been furnished in respect of accused number five, the Deputy National Director in Pretoria is to respond to representations made on behalf of accused number five by close of business on Friday, July the 10th, 2026.”
