Before he has even stepped on the field for Washington State, Kirby Moore has continued to impress. Beyond his instant reliability as a Washingtonian who grew up attending games, Moore has already added some very intriguing recruits. However, none may be as intriguing or eye-catching than 4-star offensive tackle Rahsaun Lavata’i.
Lavata’i, from Curtis Senior High School near Tacoma, was rated 4-stars by Rivals, the #2 overall prospect in the state and the #9 offensive lineman in the country. He checks in as a 3-star on 24/7 and the 10th best prospect in the Evergreen State. He had 13 offers, most notably from Boise State, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon State, Utah and Washington with visits to the latter three and Washington State. His commitment comes just over a week after his visit to Washington.
4-stars are rare at Washington State. The last one rated as highly per Rivals out of high school was Cammon Cooper from the 2018 class. Now, Cooper didn’t exactly pan out as hoped, and of course Lavata’i isn’t a guarantee either. But arguably the most important thing here is how Moore is able to compete against the bigger schools in today’s day and age without any on-field results to back him up yet. In an era of super-conferences and massive NIL pools, Moore just went out and grabbed one of the highest-rated recruits in the state. An incredibly impressive feat in his first offseason.
The addition of Lavatai’i moves WSU into the 66th best 2027 class thus far on 24/7.
