RCD Mallorca have early this week announced the latest installation on the club’s bench.
The tactician chosen to lead the Bermellones forward into a new era? Luis García.
The subject of the manager’s position at Son Moix has of course dominated the headlines across Spain over recent days. As much comes after Martín Demichelis, fresh off penning terms on a contract extension, made the abrupt call to depart.
The Argentine has since been unveiled as the new head coach of Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.
Those in the boardroom in Mallorca, still smarting from a shock relegation to the 2nd tier of Spanish football, were therefore left with the task of sourcing a new headmaster for the 2026/27 campaign.
And as alluded to above, on Monday, the identity of the manager chosen has been revealed.
As per a statement across Mallorca’s website and social media platforms:
‘Luis García Fernández (Oviedo, 06/02/1981) has become the new manager of RCD Mallorca. He has signed a contract until June 2027, with an option for an additional season.’
García for his part spent this past season plying his managerial trade in La Liga 2, with Las Palmas.
