England superfan Andy Milne, aka that World Cup guy, has made his decision on who is best English striker of all time — and it is not Alan Shearer.
Instead of Shearer, Milne went with Bayern Munich star Harry Kane, even though Milne never thought he would utter those words.
“I remember at the time thinking that there would never be a better striker for England than Alan Shearer, but Harry Kane has just done it. He’s scored so many goals and has outdone him. It has to be Harry [Kane],” Milne told Betfair.
Sure, you could make a case that recency bias is alive and well, but Kane is coming off of one of the great all-time goal scoring seasons and continued to be a dominant presence for Bayern Munich. Now, Kane is seeking to stay hot with England as well. For many fans like Milne, it still might be close in the GOAT rankings, but Kane is starting to get more and more recognition for his work.
