The FSU Seminoles have their quarterback in the 2027 recruiting cycle committed in Logan Flaherty, and now they are working to land one in the 2028 cycle. One of the early targets to know is James Armstrong, a four-star prospect from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania.
He made the trip down to Tallahassee over the weekend to compete at the Seminoles Showcase on Sunday, and came away impressed with what he saw from Florida State‘s coaching staff and campus.
“I love it. I think the tradition and everything, all the coaches are just great,” he told Matt LaSerre of Warchant. “I think that just the place as a whole is just a great place to go to.”
Armstrong is ranked as the No. 186 overall player and No. 12 quarterback in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 5 player from Pennsylvania, a state that the Seminoles do not normally recruit.
Despite being outside their normal recruiting footprint and this being his first visit, he already has FSU among the top schools in his recruitment.
“They’re definitely a contender for me,” he said. “I love everything about it.”
Armstrong had a productive sophomore season at Hopewell High School. He completed 60.4% of his passes for 2,232 yards, 21 touchdowns, and three interceptions in 12 games. A good athlete, he ran for 799 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards per carry.
