The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Nelson Mandela Bay Region has expressed its dissatisfaction with high level of crime in the metro and that it needs urgent attention to prevent deaths.
This is in response to the murder of an ANC councillor Sicelo Mleve on Saturday night.
Councillor Khanya Ngqisha, who serves as a Mayoral Committee Member for Budget and Treasury in council described the late Mleve as somebody who raised genuine issues during council meetings.
The party has added that it’s saddened by his death.
“We are not happy at all, we started thinking that political killings were starting to disappear, yesterday we received that this is something that is alive. Councillor Mleve was the best with the ANC caucus, he valued other inputs, he was the cream of the crop. I knew him personally and he expressed himself in council, he was in independent thinker.”
