The African Transformation Movement (ATM) and its MP, Vuyolwethu Zungula, have filed papers in the Western Cape High Court.
Zungula is opposing President Cyril Ramaphosa’s bid to interdict Parliament’s impeachment process pending a review into the Section 89 independent panel report into the Phala Phala saga.
The report found that Ramaphosa may have a case to answer regarding the February 2020 robbery of foreign currency at his Limpopo farm.
Zungula and ATM, in their opposition, have stated that Ramaphosa has no basis to fear that his dignity and reputation will be undermined by members of the Committee or the impeachment process generally.
This is as the impeachment rules require the Committee to conduct its business in a manner that is reasonable and procedurally fair.
The hearing for Ramaphosa’s interdict bid is set to be heard on 15-16 July 2026.
