Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that wide receiver Christian Watson was taken to a Denver area hospital for additional testing after he suffered a chest injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Broncos.
Watson was injured on a deep ball thrown by Jordan Love. He came down hard on his left shoulder and appeared to be in significant pain in his lower shoulder and chest area.
“He did (go to the hospital), they did a CT on him. We’ll have more tomorrow for you,” LaFleur said Sunday.
LaFleur did not know if Watson would need to stay the night in the hospital.
The Packers’ offense flat-lined after the Watson injury. After going up 23-14 in the third quarter, the Packers scored just three points the rest of the way.
Watson caught three passes for 29 yards before exiting with the injury. He had emerged as a go-to target for Love over the last month, catching five touchdown passes over the last four games. He had a pair of scores last week in a win over the Chicago Bears.
Without Watson moving forward, the Packers will go with Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, first-round pick Matthew Golden and Dontayvion Wicks at wide receiver.
The Packers also fear a season-ending torn ACL for Micah Parsons, per multiple reports. LaFleur said “it doesn’t look good” after the 34-26 loss to the Broncos.
