The Cleveland Browns made a flurry of roster moves on Wednesday, but chief among them was bringing back defensive tackle Mo Hurst II, who spent the last two seasons with the team.
Hurst was signed to the practice squad, and to make room for him, the Browns waived defensive tackle Simeon Barrow from the reserve unit. Hurst, who has suffered season-ending injuries in back-to-back seasons, is now healthy enough to get back to football. The former Michigan man has been a fan favorite in Cleveland over the past two seasons, so it makes sense that the two sides decided to come together yet again.
Adding Hurst II to the practice squad was not the only roster move the Browns made, however. In fact, they have made moves in bunches. Here is every roster move the Browns made ahead of their Week 15 game against the Bears:
Browns place two on Injured Reserve
The Browns have placed two players from their 53-man roster on Injured Reserve. Starting center Ethan Pocic’s season is over with a ruptured achilles. Running back Jerome Ford’s season, and potentially time with the Browns, has ended as well with a shoulder injury that has landed him on IR.
Browns sign two to their active roster off of other practice squads
The Browns have added offensive tackle Jeremiah Byers to their 53-man roster. He was signed off of the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad. After placing Ford on IR as well, the Browns have added Trayveon Williams to their active roster off of the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad. Williams spent time in Cleveland this summer.
Browns sign one off their practice squad, waive safety to make room
Cornerback Tre Avery has been signed off the practice squad in Cleveland. He has appeared in six games with the Browns this season as a member of the active roster and as a practice squad gameday elevation. To clear a roster spot for Avery, the Browns have waived safety Christopher Edmonds.
