Norway had an amazing run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and it’s because of Erling Haaland.
The Manchester City superstar bagged seven goals in his first-ever FIFA World Cup and carried the nation on his back.
Moreover, Erling Haaland’s goofy personality made him an instant fan favorite in the US. Norway may have been knocked out of the World Cup, but it has brought immense fame to Haaland.
Peru sees a surge in Erling Haaland baby names
The US isn’t the only country where Haaland has become a beloved superstar. In fact, Peru has seen an unexpected growth in the name ‘Erling Haaland’ since the World Cup.
“Peru is now the country with the most babies named after Erling Haaland in the world,” Pubity revealed on X.
They added, “Over 500 newborn babies in Peru have been named after the Norwegian player – at least 468 with Haaland and 91 with the full name Erling Haaland.”
Geographically, Peru is more than 6,500 miles away from Norway, but Haaland’s performance has impacted recent newborn baby names in the South American country.
As far as Haaland’s World Cup run is concerned, Norway were knocked out in the quarterfinals following a 2-1 defeat against England, but not before knocking out a heavyweight in Brazil earlier in the tournament.
