President Cyril Ramaphosa is in France for a three-day working visit focused on education, diplomacy and strengthening bilateral ties.
The visit follows the appointment of former State Security Minister Ayanda Dlodlo as South Africa’s new ambassador to France.
The visit will include high-level engagements with UNESCO, French President Emmanuel Macron and senior government officials.
The visit begins at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where President Ramaphosa will co-chair the High-Level Steering Committee on Sustainable Development Goal 4 and take part in a review of progress since the Transforming Education Summit.
He will also meet French business leaders.
On Sunday, Ramaphosa will attend the 110th anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Delville Wood at the South African Memorial in Longueval, honouring South African soldiers who died during World War One.
The programme includes a wreath-laying ceremony and the unveiling of a UNESCO plaque.
