Throughout spring practice, it was clear the Washington Huskies had an exciting talent at left tackle in freshman Kodi Greene.
Now, national analysts are starting to take note of the critical role the former five-star recruit will play in Jedd Fisch’s offense. Among those analysts is CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford, who named the 6-foot-6, 321-pound local product to his list of the Big Ten’s top freshmen to watch in 2026.
“The Huskies‘ not-so-hidden weapon on the left side of the offensive line, Greene assumed a starring role this spring at the tackle position and reportedly took every snap with the starters since his arrival,” Crawford wrote in his reasoning.

“Greene’s a traditionalist in the sense that he brings his lunch pail to practice every day and goes to work as one of the linchpins of Washington’s effort at the line of scrimmage. There’s heightened pressure that comes with being a true freshman difference-maker, but Greene doesn’t feel any of it as of now.”
Throughout the spring, Greene showed no signs of needing a major adjustment to the college level. He flashed high-end athleticism, the desired physicality to hold up at tackle in the Big Ten, and an impressive understanding of Jedd Fisch’s offensive scheme, which has led Washington’s coaching staff to believe he could give the Huskies their second consecutive Freshman All-American along the offensive line, after John Mills earned the distinction at left guard in 2025.
“His attention to detail, his preparation, his natural attributes athletically, physically stick out,” offensive line coach Michael Switzer said of the freshman ahead of spring practice. “You see him in the weight room, you see him on the field moving. I think it was our first day of (player-run practices), some of the older guys saw him do a backside cutoff on wide zone, and everybody starts turning heads.”
“He’s separated himself in terms of how he approaches his daily (routine), he’s very serious about it. He’s put himself in a position to have a great opportunity to come in, play left tackle, and see where he ends up this spring and how it all plays out.”
