Sacramento Kings rookie forward Alex Karaban will miss at least one week after suffering an injury during team practice on Thursday, according to Jeremiah Salmonson of SRS.
Karaban was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain after undergoing an MRI. He will be reevaluated in one week and will be sidelined for the two-city, three-day California Classic, which tips off Friday in Sacramento and San Francisco.
The 23-year-old appeared to sustain the injury attempting to contest a shot by undrafted forward Marquel Sutton in a video captured by Brenden Nunes of Sactown Sports 1140. He left the court after the play, but he was able to walk off unassisted.

Karaban was the 29th overall pick after averaging 13.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 37.4% from 3-point range as a senior at UConn. He was a first-team All-Big East selection, helping the Huskies to their third national championship game in four years.
A two-time champion, Karaban left the Huskies as the all-time leader in wins (126), starts (150), minutes (4,906) and 3-pointers (292), while he is sixth in scoring (1,880). He became the first active player in program history to be inducted into the Huskies of Honor.
While Karaban will miss the California Classic, he could be cleared to suit up in the NBA Summer League, which begins on July 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The team will provide further updates on his status as they become available.
