Umkhonto weSizwe Party Member of Parliament (MP) Vusi Shongwe has detailed the events that led to him speaking with suspended Crime Intelligence deputy head Feroz Khan during a video call.
Shongwe has told the Madlanga Commission that the call was facilitated by Yusuf Kajee and a man named Imran.
Shongwe further alleges that Khan’s demeanour changed during the interaction, when Khan questioned why he should appear before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee.
“So, I said, ‘No, no, no, I’m doing nothing to you. I was referencing you, referencing your name in this thing. I’m not looking for you. You even know that we won’t call you on the ad hoc. You have voted out that you won’t come.’ So, it was just a matter of me referencing. ‘No, brother, you are killing me.’ Then he touches his neck, ‘you are suffocating me.’ And his eyes are now turning red. If I may say, he was crying. But I just decided to let me look at this and understand what is really, really happening here,” says Shongwe.
