The Pittsburgh Steelers could look to trade away from their quarterback room ahead of the start of the season.
Pittsburgh brought back Aaron Rodgers to be the starter and has Mason Rudolph, Drew Allar, and Will Howard in the quarterback room. With the Steelers likely only keeping three at most on the 53-man roster, Pittsburgh will have to make a decision on its quarterback room.
With that, Steelers analyst Andrew Vasquez of SteelersWire believes the New York Jets could be a potential trade partner for Rudolph.
“The Jets claim to be all in on Geno Smith this upcoming season, but Rudolph would offer the team a cheap, top-tier backup who also functions as a plan B if the season goes sideways fast,” Vasquez wrote in an article published on Wednesday.
Rudolph would add some veteran experience to the Jets quarterback room, and insurance should Smith falter. The Steelers likely would just want a late-pick swap in return.
However, there is a chance that Pittsburgh keeps Rudolph and makes him the backup, and the Steelers cut one of the young quarterbacks.
