DETROIT – Every start by Tigers’ ace lefty Tarik Skubal comes with one underlying thought.
Are we that much closer to the end of his Motown career?
MLB’s trade deadline is Aug. 3, and Skubal’s name tops the list of potential impact trade candidates, with the Tigers playing at 11 games under .500 entering Wednesday.
Adding to the intrigue, Skubal draws tonight’s start against the Yankees in this series finale at Comerica Park, after the two teams split the first two games.
It’s a pair of lefties going tonight, with the Yanks’ Ryan Weathers (2-5, 4.13) opposing Skubal (3-3, 3.02).

Paul Goldschmidt, twice
After leading off the game with a homer on a 3-1 fastball at 96-mph, Paul Goldschmidt belts another solo homer in his second at-bat – giving the Yanks a 2-1 lead in the third.
This time, it’s a two-out shot to left-center on an 0-1 curveball that travels an estimated 427 feet.
