Iranian human-rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh on Monday won the Council of Europe’s Vaclav Havel Human Rights Prize in recognition of her long-running advocacy work, months after being released following her latest arrest.
Still in Iran after her release on bail in May, Sotoudeh said in a brief video message that “one day, the sun of freedom will shine upon our country as well” and added “perhaps one day, truth will find its way to our country too.”
