Before competition intensifies in the second half of the season, it’s time for some All-Star festivities in the WNBA.
The All-Star Game tips off on Saturday with a brand-new format celebrating the league’s historic 30th season. Rather than a traditional conference or captain-led layout, this year features two legendary general managers drafting teams to go head-to-head for charity.
WNBA icons Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon served as the special GMs for the event. Paige Bueckers, Breanna Stewart and Kelsey Mitchell headline Team Coop, while Caitlin Clark, A’ja Wilson and Olivia Miles lead Team Spoon.
Adding extra stakes to the milestone season, the teams will compete for a $100,000 prize pool benefiting youth sports initiatives in the host city. Team Coop is playing for Angels Athletics, while Team Spoon is supporting Girls in the Game.
