One day after losing out on arguably the biggest target Ohio State had for the 2027 recruiting class when five-star running back David Gabriel Georges decided to sign with Tennessee over the Buckeyes, OSU got some better news on Thursday.
That’s because four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds had been flirting with flipping to UCLA after the coaching staff began to look at other quarterbacks in the 2027 class. All indications are that the Southern California native was seriously considering wearing the powder blue, but he announced on social media Thursday that he is shutting down his recruitment and is locked in with the scarlet and gray.
Out of Huntington Beach, California, Edmunds has been committed to Ohio State since December of 2024 and has been very instrumental in peer-recruiting other players to Columbus. He is the No. 20 quarterback and 242nd national prospect in the 2027 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Edmunds is currently the only quarterback in the class, and you have to believe the coaching staff made him feel good about being a Buckeye still when he made his official visit to OSU in June.

Edmunds may not have the lofty recruiting ranking we normally see Ohio State go after, but there haven’t been too many programs in the country that have done a great job of identifying talent at the position, so there’s a reason he’s the quarterback head coach Ryan Day and staff zeroed in on in this class.
