The New York Jets are excited about the offensive line they’ll be fielding during the 2026 season.
From left to right, Olu Fashanu, Dylan Parham, Josh Myers, Joe Tippmann, and Armand Membou project as a high-quality starting five.
With four returning starters, this Jets unit should quickly start forming chemistry at training camp.
Jets general manager Darren Mougey will continue assessing his roster throughout training camp. If there’s one area on the offensive line Mougey could improve, it’s the backup tackle position. The Jets don’t appear prepared to survive an injury to Membou or Fashanu.
Veterans Chukwuma Okorafor and Max Mitchell are currently slated for the backup jobs. Okorafor is entering his second season with the Jets, but did not play a single offensive snap last season. Mitchell has been with the Jets since 2022, signing a new one-year contract with the team earlier this offseason worth $2 million.
Perhaps the Jets are comfortable with Mitchell and Okorafor. They’ve both played lots of offensive tackle in the NFL. Experience is among the biggest factors when deciding on backup tackles. It’s typically slim pickings around the league.
Taylor Decker, Jack Conklin, Jonah Williams, and Cam Robinson are among the current free agents at offensive tackle.
All four names would represent an upgrade over both Mitchell and Okorafor. We’ll see if Mougey enters the market for a veteran tackle at training camp.
