It was a rough night for the Terre Haute Rex as they were swept in Prospect League baseball action in a doubleheader at Danville on Sunday night.
The Terre Haute Rex dropped their first game of a doubleheader 8-3.
Danville jumped out in front in the first inning before the Rex put up two in the top of the second. It was a battle as Danville put up two in the top of the third before a big outbreak in the fourth as the Dans put up four to make it 7-2. Each side plated one more to close out the first seven inning game of the doubleheader.
In the first game, the Rex got a solo home run in the second inning by Nazhir Bergen. Also, Deakin Brinkley doubled in the sixth inning and Dallas Coleman had a sacrifice fly.
In the second game, the Dans had their way as they took care of the Rex 12-2 in five innings.
Highlights in game two included two home runs from Wally Diaz and Gabe Wright with both coming in the bottom of the first inning.
Despite dropping their past two games against the Dans, the Rex remain atop the Eastern Conference’s Central Division with Danville right behind them in second. Terre Haute sits 11-7 in second half play while Danville is 10-8.
