It’s that time of the offseason in which everybody gives their opinion on what’s happened and the moves that every team has made in an effort to predict what’s to come in the future.
The Philadelphia 76ers, of course, have been at the forefront of the big moves in the summer with the huge trade made with the Boston Celtics. In case one has missed it, the Sixers acquired Jaylen Brown and sent Paul George along with picks to the Cs. The addition of Brown to join Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe has Philadelphia thinking big.
However, former Sixers forward PJ Tucker believes the Celtics might have gotten the better end of the deal. He hopped on the “Club 520 Podcast” and gave his take on the deal:
If you look at the playoff series this year. PG might have had a better series than JB. So, how does Philly win? I think it’s tough. I’m rocking with PG. Like, I’m hating how everybody–I mean, respect to JB, but PG is still a hell of a player. If PG don’t get suspended and all that stuff don’t happen, then I think we having another conversation…. I’m still liking JT and PG in a series. I like the Celtics, bro.

To Tucker’s point, George was a huge part of Philadelphia rallying from being down 3-1 to eliminate Brown and the Celtics. He took on both Brown and Jayson Tatum defensively while also averaging 17.4 points and shooting 48.9% from the floor and 55% from deep. George was terrific, and Tucker’s point is valid there, but Brown is a big upgrade and should enhance everything Philadelphia does in the coming season.
