Jul. 20—The list of 2027 recruits who have received scholarship offers from the Dayton Flyers grew in recent weeks.
Akol Nyok, Mustafa Mohamed and Troy Fason Jr. .the 11th, 12th and 13th 2027 recruits to receive offers from UD.
It’s still early in the recruiting cycle. Dayton has not received a commitment from a 2027 recruit. No Atlantic 10 Conference program has landed one, either. The two freshmen on Dayton’s 2025-26 roster, Damon Friery and Jaron McKie, committed in September.
It’s also too early to tell how many roster spots Dayton will have open a year from now. Of the 14 players on the 2026-27 roster, only Cincinnati transfer Jalen Haynes is entering his final season of eligibility. Rosters can now have 15 players.
With the NCAA changing the rules to give athletes five years of eligibility, every other current scholarship player on the Dayton roster has at least two seasons remaining.
Here’s a quick glance at the latest recruits Dayton is pursuing:
Nyok: A 7-foot-1 center from Miami, Fla., he ranks 145th in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports.com. He announced an offer from Dayton on July 15. Florida Atlantic, Charleston and Georgia are among the other schools to offer him a scholarship this month.
Nyok attends Christopher Columbus High School in Miami. One of his teammates is Tai Bell, the 24th-ranked 2028 recruit. Bell received a UD offer in March.

Mohamed: Ranked 96th in the 247Sports.com composite rankings, he’s a 6-9 forward who attends the AZ Compass Prep School in Chandler, Ariz. Former Dayton star DaRon Holmes II finished his high school career at Compass Prep in 2021. Mohamed is originally from St. Paul, Minn.
Mohamed announced on July 16 he received a UD offer. Charlotte, Georgia Tech and UNLV are among the other schools that have offered him scholarships this month.
Fason: A 5-11 point guard at the DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla., Fason received a UD offer earlier this month, according to a report by Kyle Tucker, of 247Sports.com. He ranks 176th in the 247Sports.com composite rankings. South Florida and Tennessee are among the other schools recruiting Fason, according to Tucker.
Interest in Fason increased after he scored 41 points in the semifinals of the Peach Jam, one of the biggest summer basketball showcases.
Before enrolling at DME Academy, Fason attended St. Francis Prep in Queens, N.Y., and the Lawrence Woodmere Academy in Woodmere, N.Y.
