David Beckham is cheering on Spain!
On Monday, July 20, the retired soccer star posted a ringing endorsement of the team on Instagram, after La Roja beat defending champion Argentina, 1-0, in the World Cup final at New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday.
“World champions 🇪🇸 VIVA ESPANA 🇪🇸,” Beckham, 51, wrote. “Congratulations to Spain on the perfect tournament 💛❤️@sefutbol❤️💛”
Spain dominated the match on Sunday, holding Argentina to zero shots on goal, and finished the tournament with only one goal allowed, the fewest for a World Cup winner ever, according to ESPN.

Beckham — who also attended Spain’s semifinal game against France on July 14 in Texas — pulled up to the stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. along with wife Victoria Beckham, 52, and their sons, Romeo, 23, and Cruz Beckham, 21.
As Spain beat Argentina, Victoria and David were seated in front of their sons, as well as Cruz’s girlfriend Jackie Apostel and Romeo’s girlfriend Kim Turnbull.
The Beckhams have made several appearances at matches over the past month, with two of their sons and daughter Harper Beckham, 15.

Their eldest son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, 27, hasn’t been seen with the family following a fallout with his parents.
For Victoria, making the World Cup final meant missing the wedding of her former Spice Girls bandmate Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm, who married model Chris Dingwall on Saturday, July 18.
The fashion designer did give the bride a present, in the form of a wedding gown.
Chisholm tied the knot at a friend’s lakeside property in Cumbria, England in a custom ivory lace slip dress designed by Victoria.
