Maine 13, Jesse Burkett 3: Hannah White doubled, Ava Maloney drove in a run and Camilla Johnston singled and stole three bases, but Jesse Burkett couldn’t recover from Maine scoring six runs in the second inning as they fell in the opening game of the New England Regional Tournament in Bristol, CT.
Jesse Burkett will try to rebound against a team to be determined at 10 a.m. Monday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
Jesse Burkett managed just four hits, as Stella Vernon and Luciana Johnston also singled as Butkett rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the second to tie the game, 3-3. However Maine scored six in the third, with three coming on an inside-the-park homer by Sophia Santiago. Maine added a run in the third and three more in the bottom of the fifth to trigger the mercy rule.

Grafton 3, North County 2: Haylan Oberg fanned five and gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits over five innings and Aiden Thomas threw two perfect innings of relief as host Post 92 held on to top Post 193 in a District 4 elimination game at Fino Field.
Ryan Chagnon singled twice and scored, Thomas doubled and drove in a run and Landon Swain knocked in a run as Grafton pushed a run across on an error in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good.
Nate Snoonian was 2 for 3 with a double and RBI, Will Gage doubled and Brodhi Byars singled to lead North County.
Grafton 6, Milford 3: C.J. Chagnon was 3 for 4 with two runs, Charlie Law singled and drove in three and Kyle Brown (RBI) and Zach Otis each had two hits to power Post 92 past host 59 in a District 4 playoff game at Fino Field.
Kellen Caron tossed six innings for Grafton, giving up three runs on nine hits while fanning five and Aidan Thomas pitched a one-hit seventh to seal the win.
Milford’s Joey McGee was 3 for 4 with one RBI, Gavin Metcalf was 2 for 4 with a double and Nick Pedrolli singled in a run.
The teams will have a rematch in an elimination game at 4 p.m. Sundy back at Fino Field.
Shrewsbury 8, Hudson 2: Connor Mudd was 3 for 4 with 2 stolen bases, 2 runs and 2 RBIs, Tommy Kursonis and Finn McDonough each singled twice and scored and Kursonis (3 IP, 2 hits, 2 Ks, 1 R), Brayden Lizewski (3 IP, 3 hits, 2 Ks 1 R) and Frank Davis (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R) limited the Hudson offense as Post 397 defeated visiting Post 100 in an elimination game at McLaughlin Park in Leominster.
Joey Farrell had a two-run homer for Hudson and also struck out three in 4⅓ innings of relief, while giving up three earned runs on four hits.
Leominster 3, Shrewsbury 1: Danny Frade needed 92 pitches (61 for strikes) to fire a one-hitter to send Post 151 past Post 397 in an elimination game at McLaughlin Park.
Frade walked two and didn’t give up an earned run for Leominster and gave up a single to Bryan Herlihy in the third inning.
A.J. Wozniak had a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away, while Brendan Mariani drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and Brett Richard worked a bases loaded walk as Leominster took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
