PHILADELPHIA — After some initial concern, the Mets will not have to spend any more time without Juan Soto.
The Mets outfielder exited Thursday night’s game with some left calf tightness but was back in the lineup for the club’s 4:10 p.m. matchup with the Phillies on Saturday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park.
The Mets opened the second half on a high note, riding a pair of home runs from Francisco Alvarez and a scoreless 5⅔ innings from Christian Scott to take down their NL East rivals, 4-1, before an unusual Friday off day.
The Mets have an opportunity to secure their second series victory in their last three with a victory in Philadelphia the next two days.
After being activated on Thursday, Marcus Semien returns to the lineup for the first time since June 24 after being sidelined with a hip flexor strain.
