“WWE SmackDown” is in Albany, New York on this Friday — July 17 — to prepare for tomorrow’s Saturday Night’s Main Event in Madison Square Garden. All eyes will be on CM Punk and Cody Rhodes, who are on a collision course for SummerSlam next month.
The Undisputed WWE Title match between Punk and Rhodes was made official last Friday. What followed was Gunther’s ruthless assault of “WWE SmackDown” general manager Nick Aldis, who put the aforementioned duo in a tag-team match against Gunther and Sami Zayn for tomorrow’s SNME show. Unhappy with the booking, Gunther took out his frustrations on Aldis, who is now being replaced by “WWE Raw” general manager Adam Pearce for tonight’s show.
All signs point to Aldis making his in-ring WWE debut as a result of this continually escalating beef with Gunther. Whether he’ll be seen tonight or tomorrow, possibly interfering in the tag match, remains to be seen.
Finn Bálor will also take on the other half of the Tongans tonight, after beating Tama Tonga last week. Standing in his way will be the giant Talla Tonga, as the latter looks to get one back for his brother.
