The 2027 recruiting cycle has not been kind to Mike Norvell and Florida State football.
However, the Seminoles picked up a major win on the recruiting trail on Friday, July 17, when four-star safety Ta’Shawn Poole announced his commitment to the program.
247Sports ranks Poole as the No. 85 player in the 2027 class, the No. 4 safety and No. 6 player out of Georgia. However, the updated USA TODAY Sports composite rankings ranks Poole as the No. 63 overall player as well as the No. 5 safety prospect for the class.
He commits to the Seminoles over offers from finalists Tennessee and Georgia, giving Norvell a much-needed win in what could be a make-or-break season. FSU has gone just 7-17 in its last two seasons after going 13-1 in 2023.
Entering the day, the Seminoles had 15 members in their 2027 recruiting class. It ranked No. 54 overall in the nation. Poole is the first top 100 recruit in the Seminoles’ class and their fifth four-star commitment.
He headlines a Seminoles class that also includes Poplarville (MS) four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune, Camden County (GA) four-star wide receiver Sean Green, Baton Rouge Catholic (LA) four-star running back Jayden Miles and Miami Carol City (FL) four-star athlete Za’Kari Johnson.
