There’s no denying that Pittsburgh Steelers legend Hines Ward is extremely excited about one rookie from the team’s 2026 NFL Draft class. And fans should be ready to run through a wall following his recent praise.
On a new episode of The Yinziders podcast, Ward couldn’t help but admire Steelers first-round rookie Max Iheanachor, praising his overall attitude and work ethic heading into 2026.
“Max is just a blue-collar guy,” Ward said. “He hasn’t played football for a very long time, but you see the talent. You see the skill set. A lot of Steeler fans may not know who Max is, but I saw it every day. The kid just put his head down and just grind. He has that work ethic in him.”
Iheanachor, selected by the Steelers with the 21st overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, was one of the most promising prospects in his class, despite not playing football until college.
Ward, arguably the greatest wide receiver in Steelers history, knows greatness when he sees it, which is exactly why his belief in Iheanachor means so much.
