If the 2026 Major League Baseball season were to end today, the Los Angeles Dodgers would unsurprisingly finish the campaign with the best record in baseball, despite all of the high-powered injuries the club has dealt with this season.
This just goes to show how much better than everyone else the Dodgers are.
If the season were to end today, the National League playoff field would feature the Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, and the surprising Miami Marlins. The Dodgers are currently leading the National League West. The Brewers are leading the National League Central. The Braves are leading the National League East, but the Phillies are closing in. The Cubs, Phillies and Marlins currently hold the Wild Card spots with the St. Louis Cardinals just one game out of a playoff spot.
On the American League side, the Tampa Bay Rays are leading the charge and have the best record in the league at 56-38. If the season ended today, the American League playoff field would feature Tampa Bay, the Cleveland Guardians, the Texas Rangers, the New York Yankees, the Chicago White Sox, and the Seattle Mariners.
The Rays would win the American League East. The Guardians would win the American League Central. The Rangers would win the American League West. The Yankees, White Sox, and Mariners currently hold Wild Card spots, but the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox are close behind. The Twins are actually tied with the Mariners and Boston is just a half-game back.
Between now and the end of the regular season, there’s certainly a lot to watch out for.
