Paul Skenes wasn’t available to pitch in the All-Star Game for the National League, but the Pittsburgh Pirates superstar was there to take part in the festivities in Philadelphia.
By his side was his girlfriend, Livvy Dunne, and they turned heads during the Red Carpet Show before the game.
They also told some fun stories, enjoying the chance to appreciate the day without a potential pitching outing for Skenes to worry about.
Maybe the best story? The time Dunne stood in against Skenes.
She’d been asking to stand in the box and see how he threw.
She did, and she couldn’t move.
“I stood there, and I was frozen,” Dunne said.
“Buzzed her tower,” Skenes said, referring to running a fastball up and in.
Skenes then added: “She wanted to see it. Time comes, we’ve got to see if you’re about it.”
Livvy Dunne wanted to see what it would be like to face Paul Skenes …
She, like most batters, was frozen when he threw her a heater 🤣 pic.twitter.com/NF8pOG3SbC

To be fair to Dunne: Most of us would just stand and stare. Most people couldn’t even dream of hitting the ball against Skenes.
It also takes some serious courage to stand in there at all.
But we’d probably advise not to try that again, just in case.
