The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Cases Inquiry will hear testimony from former National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele on Tuesday.
The commission is tasked with determining whether there was political suppression of investigations and prosecutions related to TRC cases.
For the rest of the week it will focus on the role of the South African Police Services.
The inquiry, chaired by Justice Sisi Khampepe, has heard several testimonies attributing the slow progress in getting justice for victims of apartheid-era human rights abuses to a lack of investigative capacity.
Earlier this month, cabinet called on all victims identified by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to apply for or claim their individual reparations grant.
This was announced during a media briefing on the outcomes of cabinet meeting.
The meeting received an update from Parliament on the implementation of the 2003 TRC recommendations, which approved the granting of reparations to TRC-identified victims, including the payment of R30 000, medical benefits, and other forms of social assistance and community rehabilitation.
