In less than two weeks, rookies will report to the Tennessee Titans’ training camp, and the regular season will be on the horizon. The Titans enter camp with some higher expectations and will look to turn the corner in their rebuild.
One player who is embracing all of the changes and the excitement for the future is fourth-year running back Tyjae Spears.
“We have a new logo, and we have a lot of new things around here. So, we are going to have a winning record this year,” he said.
Spears is coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons where injuries took their toll and limited his impact, but again appears poised to take on a larger role in the offense, complementing Tony Pollard in the Titans’ backfield. And this comes at a great time.
After entering the league as a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, Spears is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and Tennessee must make a decision on his future in Nashville.
“Consistency overrules everything,” Spears said. “I am trying to consistently improve … as a person and a player. And if I do that, everything is going to be good.”
In all, he has seen action in 42 games over the past three seasons, making three starts and accumulating 1,048 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, and catching 127 passes for 873 yards and two more scores.
