Police say work is under way to obtain a full extradition request to have triple murder accused Ndodana Tshuma extradited to the United Kingdom (UK).
Tshuma’s matter relating to the possession of an unlicenced firearm as well as his extradition case have been postponed to 22 July at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
The 45-year-old Zimbabwean national is accused of killing his 42-year-old wife, Nothabo Tshuma and their daughters, 15-year-old Natalie and five-year-old Nala, at their home in the UK.
He was arrested in Kensington, east of Johannesburg, on Friday.
“Colleagues from Interpol have confirmed that they have been engaging with UK authorities and they are quite confident that in no time they will have the full extradition documents in the country where the court firstly has to find him extraditable and then the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development will then give an order for extradition,” says National Police Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe.
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma has made his first appearance at the JHB magistrate court this morning. He faces a charge of being in possession of an unlawful firearm.
