New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore and franchise icon Cameron Jordan were among the latest NFL figures to participate in the revived ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Both accepted nominations from quarterback Tyler Shough and got soaked to help raise awareness for the disease.
Moore followed through on his nomination, and Jordan completed the challenge during the Sack Summit. Several of Jordan’s fellow pass rushers joined the moment, surrounding him and helping dump the ice water on his head. Veterans Maxx Crosby and Von Miller also participated in the challenge with Jordan.
The challenge has returned after former NFL running back Chris Johnson publicly announced his ALS diagnosis. Johnson then called for the viral fundraiser to be revived, hoping it could once again generate support and funding for ALS research. Hundreds of people have participated since the announcement, including many of football’s best-known players.
“Chris Johnson, we stand with you, brother,” Jordan said in his video. “We played against you. Guys look up to you. When I think about what you mean to the game, we’re doing this for you.”
Shough became involved after Saints legend Steve Gleason, who also has the disease, nominated him to participate. After completing the challenge, Shough passed it along to Moore, Jordan and tight end Juwan Johnson.
