Council made made six interceptions, 36 tackles, three pass deflections and fumble recovery as a defensive back for the Rockets in 2025.
But his impact on the field is not limited to just the defensive side of the ball.
Offensively, he starred at running back, too. He rushed for 851 yards and 13 touchdowns on 91 carries in 2025. He also caught 14 passes for 100 yards and TD.
“Marcus is one of the most exciting players offensively and defensively in the state,” East coach Marques Hayes wrote in a text to the Akron Beacon Journal. “He brings a veteran presence and ultimate playmaking ability on both sides of the ball.”
East has been to the OHSAA playoffs each of the last six seasons under Hayes. The Dragons went 10-3 a year ago, winning two playoff games in Division III to make their first trip to the third round of the playoffs.
The Dragons, who went 5-0 in the City Series, defeated Benedictine 19-7 in Round 1 of the playoffs before a 36-16 win at Hawken. CVCA defeated the Dragons 30-0 in a regional semifinal to end East’s run.
