The season hasn’t even started yet, but the expectations for Notre Dame this coming season are through the roof.
Many anticipate an extended run the in College Football Playoff, and you can now add ESPN to that list. They recently updated their Football Power Index, and it was pretty favorable for the Irish. Notre Dame was No. 3, behind just Ohio State and Texas, with some pretty good odds at a fantastic season.
The FPI has the Irish with a rounded up 11-1 record, and a 32.7% chance to go undefeated, the highest odds in the country. Notre Dame also has one of the highest chances in their metrics to make the CFP, just a point behind the Buckeyes at 74.4%.
Those goals would be great, but the big prize is a championship, and again, the FPI likes what it’s seeing from the Irish. They give Notre Dame a 19.7% chance at making the title game, with a 10.5% to win it all.
It should be another exciting fall in South Bend, one that should hold championship aspirations for Notre Dame.
