Billionaire and CEO of Tanzanian conglomerate MeTL Group, Mohammed Dewji, has called on entrepreneurs to be bold in building partnerships. He says these collaborations must prioritise developing an African continent that future generations will be proud to inherit.
Dewji delivered the keynote address at the 2026 Standard Bank Africa Unlocked Conference in Cape Town. The summit focuses heavily on the expanding role of local businesses, domestic capital, and home-grown innovation.
Dewji told delegates that entrepreneurs must be highly intentional to leverage Africa’s vast economic potential.
“Success on this continent is rarely about finding the path of least resistance. It is about having the courage to keep building the resilience to keep adapting and the discipline to keep moving forward, long before the results are visible. That is the power of partnership. It connects business with education. It connects global expertise with local talent. It creates growth that no one organisation would create alone.”
