France just punched their ticket to the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup thanks to a 2-0 win over Morocco. Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Démbélé scored the goals in the match, while Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise both played the entire game:
Thankfully, Olise avoided getting a yellow card which meant he will be available to play against either Spain or Belgium depending on who wins that match. A yellow card for the 24-year-old then would put him out of the semi-final, meaning he will only return at the final if France make it that far. In the match, both Upamecano and Olise were busy as Les Bleus dispatched Morocco and Ismael Saibari (who didn’t play owing to lack of fitness); Olise nearly scored and could’ve gotten several assists if the French forwards could finish in front of goal, while Upamecano held the fort down at the back with Arsenal center-back William Saliba.
In the other quarterfinal matches, Harry Kane will gear up with England to face Erling Haaland’s Norway in just a few days.
