Napoli have to move on to different targets after missing out on Mario Gila and losing their pole position for Anan Khalaili, and are pondering Federico Gatti and Dodo to address those respective positions.
According to Mediaset (via Calciomercato), Massimiliano Allegri is keen on a reunion with the Italian center-back, who hasn’t played much by Luciano Spalletti. Instead, he totaled 63 appearances and bagged 6 goals in 2 seasons with the current Azzurri manager in the dugout. The Bianconeri value him at €25M. The two sides have been linked to a trade involving Stanislav Lobotka, but the Partenopei boss and officials don’t want to part ways with their maestro.
Napoli might wait before ramping up their efforts to sign Gatti, while they could bring in a right-back, Dodo or an alternative, before offloading some outcasts, Alfredo Pedullà reports. Inter haven’t offered as much as Union SG demand for Khalaili yet, but they have significantly more chances of emerging victorious.
The Fiorentina stalwart is likely to be on the move because of a short-term contract. Despite some buzz, the Azzurri aren’t after Raoul Bellanova, who may indeed depart Atalanta but has offers from abroad. Instead, Nahuel Molina is a far-fetched target.
Our Take on Napoli Eyeing Gatti and Dodo
The more established and familiar, the better for Allegri, so it’s hardly a surprise that they are tracking those players. Still, it’s unclear why they feel the need to onboard a center-back, especially a fairly pricey one, if they plan to use a four-man line and Sam Beukema isn’t going anywhere. The Viola star appears to be a fallback for a few sides, which are all playing the waiting game to snap up for cheap.
