The case against self-proclaimed crime intelligence agent Brown Mogotsi has been postponed to 3 August in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
Mogotsi appeared in court last week, where his bail application was denied for the second time. His legal team has indicated that it will appeal the decision.
Mogotsi faces charges of defeating the ends of justice, perjury and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The charges relate to an alleged staged assassination attempt on his life in Vosloorus in November last year.
Mogotsi’s lawyer, Makau Sekgatja, says the defence requires more time to consult on the evidence.
Sekgatja says, “Not only footage, but they do not allow you to go in with any digital instruments like your phones, your laptops, your tablets. You leave them behind. So, we’re going to find it very difficult not only in relation to the footage but also with the other evidence which is contained within the first CD which was given to us containing the contents of the docket. So, we needed this matter to be postponed to this particular court so that we can actually consult at court on the next court date.”
