In a day of glitz, glamour and excitement, Note to Self won the Hollywoodbets Durban July, bagging trainer Justin Snaith a sixth win at Africa’s premier horse racing and social event.
The three-year-old gelding carried jockey Richard Fourie to his fourth victory in the race.
Hollywood Group spokesperson Vuyi Ngobese says while many ordinary racegoers opted for country and western-inspired outfits, fashion designers brought beauty and depth to the theme, “Marvels of Mzansi: Nation of Champions”.

“So we saw designers and raceday-goers showcasing beautiful elements of villages, those were some of the trends. Some gravitated towards the beautiful landscapes that we have in South Africa and in other countries – because the theme was just not aligned only to South Africa. It was an opportunity, yes, for us to showcase the beauty of South Africa, but then we did have raceday-goers and designers looking into other countries as well. So it was basically an opportunity for us to celebrate the beautiful aspects that make our countries alluring,” Ngobese explains.
